Question
Mexican Fan Palm
This is a better photo of my Mexican fan palm. It's not in a container, but in the ground. It has to be 6-8 years old and it never grows. I've sort of just accepted it. I'm mean it's still pretty and it's alive, but I've always been puzzled as to why it won't grow. I figured since I found this website I'd go ahead and ask about it and see if you could give me some insight.
Hope this is a better photo. Thanks so much!
AnswerHi Kim, Well I will tell you that it is definitely not stressed at all, and shows to be well taken care of, (credit to you..)..that said, I would think that something beneath the surface may be hindering the expansion of the root system, thereby causing the crown to be hindered from growing to its expected size. I would conclude that if you want to see it develop to its capability, move it to a new location, where you can determine that the soil base is appropriate, with no rock formation or anything around it competing for root space.
