Adonidia Palms-cold damaged-dead?

Question
Trying to confirm is my adonidia are dead. February cold snap turned all the leaves brown. This weekend I inspected and squeezed the neck part of the trunk of the palms just below the base of the leave stems and it's mostly mushy. I broke one top portion of the stem off completely with little effort and it's all rotted. I cut down the trunk ntil I saw some green about 4-6 inches from the neck. All trunks of the other adonidia are the same with everything above the neck rotted. Can they recover if there is green visible in the trunk?

Answer
Hi Rob, Christmas Palms are one of the more susceptible Plantings to freeze damage; what you are describing is the Crown rotting, (Bud rot) from the cold damage; you can try spraying the green area down with a Copper fungicide, but from what you describe, I fear the worse. Give it time if you want to wait, but it could be upwards of half the year before anything develops if at all. Nick
