Pruning Foxtail Palms after frost

Question
I have 6 foxtail Palms.  All have healthy new center growth but the existing fronds are all brown.      Should I just wait until they fall off naturally or should I cut them off now?

Answer
Hi Frank, let them fall on their own, for they are self shedding, but do spray down the heart of the Palm (center of crown) with a Copper fungicide and then repeat in a week, this will deter any fungal problems from setting in. Keep it properly irrigated, and if you really want to help it out, a couple of days after you spray it with the Copper, spray it with a "Chelated Palm nutritional spray" this will get nutrients into it quickly. Spray the nutritional spray in the morning, when the dew is on the fronds, for the stomata are open then (pores) and it will be readily taken in. Nick
