Queen Palm Frost Damage in Houston

Question
I have 3 huge Queen Palms that were large when they were planted
4 years ago.  They look horrible after our below freezing cold snap a few weeks ago.  First the frawns were light brown, now they are going darker almost black.  I am devastated as they are the focal point of my backyard and I invested heavily in them.  It so happens that I fertiized about 2 weeks before the cold weather and thought that would help.  One of them is abut 25 or 30 feet tall so I would need to call a tree trimmer to cut the frawns.  Can I leave them and maybe give B vitamins?  We are expecting more cold weather this weekend.  Also, my sprinkler backflow broke with the cold so I haven't been watering as much as I might be.  Should I hand water even though the soil looks damp?

Answer
Hi Teri, You didn't  mention when the Palms were put in, but it sounds like it might have been recent, hence the stress factor from the cold (being newly planted and not having enough time to set themselves...); there really isn't anything you can do this time of the year, except water properly, the heart of the Palm is the key, if it is still alive, then the Palms have a chance, but the next several Months will determine their fate.
