QuestionWe recently experienced snow and a freeze in Houston. I have two carnations of India plants that are suffering from frostbite. Some of the very bottom leaves are not too badly damaged. Will the plant survive? and should I prune the dead leaves? Please help, they were gorgeous before the storm.
AnswerHi Joanne, without actually seeing the extent of the damage it is difficult for me to assess the chances of its survival, that said, if there is still green showing and it continues to exist in a week, then the plant is still viable; if however, you see the green slowly fading, then it is probably not going to survive. Keep it "properly" irrigated in the mean time (not wet!), and wait and see. Nick
