QuestionHi! I bought a twisted hibiscus tree last summer and have now brought it into the house. The plant is still in the original pot and looks great with allot of buds and flowers. The plant has been in the house for 3 weeks now and has lots of little black flying bugs on it and on the window next to it. I would like to get rid of the flying bugs but, not sure how so that i do not kill my tree. Please help.
AnswerHi Shelly, You need to change it out of its "nursery container" and repot it in a larger container with new potting soil; those black nursery containers are for transit from the nursery and are not meant to be permanent containers. I would need to see the insects to try to help there, but I am sure they hatched from the soil it is in. If you repot it and spray the foliage down with an Insecticidal Soap to eliminate the existing adult flies you should be all set. Insecticidal soaps are available at any box store such as Home Depot or Lowest. Nick
