QuestionWe live in Southeastern N.C. and our winters are not too cold although we do have some days and nights with below and well below freezing weather. We are new to Sego Palms and need some direction on how to take care of our new plant (potted) for the winter. In the past, as like now, we move our tropical plants either into the garage or even in to the house.
Thank you in advance for any direction you can give.
AnswerHi Jacque, Yes, you will need to protect it when the temps drop below 30 degrees, albeit the Sagos here in South Florida can take the occasional dip into the low 30's, they will not tolerate it below 30 and will sustain cold damage and stress when it happens; they will not die though unless the ground freezes. In your case, I would not tempt fate and bring them into your garage if cold temps threaten, or at least cover them with a frost blanket. Nick
