QuestionHi,
I bought this indoor butterfly palm about a month ago and it was fine, it had lovely bright green leaves, and I thought I had been watering it fine ( I put in 10 drops of miracle grow to 1 pint if water)..However I noticed that most of the leaves have started to turn a dull brown dark colour and alot of them are dry. The new brighter green young leaves are also looking very dull and lifeless!
Could you please advise me on what the problem could be? Is it because I am not watering it enough or is it the postition? It is near my radiator which comes on every day and facing the window. Can my plant be saved??
AnswerHi Constantina, Palms love a humid environment and your radiator is causing an arid one, it needs to be misted frequently to nullify this dry condition; your palm is suffering from a lack of moisture on its Stomatas, which is like our pores. Make sure there is sufficient drainage in your container and that there isn't water collecting at the root ball and mist it several times a day. Nick
