QuestionHi, I have a dwarf banana plant that I noticed had some soft light yellow mold growing on the dirt's surface and when I finally got around to taking it out of the pot to change the soil, it had yellow balls of mold around the edge of the soil where it was up against the pot. What should I do? Can my plant be saved? It also grew a pup, should I try to remove it to let it grow? Thanks for your help!
AnswerGloria, it sounds like an innocuous mold that is sustaining itself on the soil, not the Banana plant; I would definitely clean the container with bleach, wash it thoroughly and then replace with new soil, just as a precaution however. When the pup has developed several leaves of it own, you can sever it by cutting the section of the underground Corm with it attached away from the Mother plant and planting elsewhere. Nick
