QuestionShould I pick the bananas while they are still green? How do I know when they are plump enough to pick? When picking, do I do so by the BUNCH or individually? this is all new to me. Thanks for your help.

AnswerHi Joy, when the individual banana "fingers" plump out to point where you don't notice any more swelling over a period of a week or so, then they are as plump as they are going to be, and will begin to turn yellow, you don't want that to occur, you want to pick them before they turn; the reason for this, is they will be much better tasting if they are picked and hung "inverted", in a cool dark place, like a shed or garage or laundry room. You hang them inverted, so that as they ripen, gravity won't peel them from the bunch; You can pick them as a bunch, or just a hand at a time, or even a banana at a time, it doesn't matter, but do so before they turn, for when they turn, they tend to be starchy, not sweet.
