QuestionQUESTION: I have a few mature (15 yrs old) Queen Palms in my backyard. They're approx. 25 to 35 feet in height. My question is concerning their frawns. Do healthy & green in appearance Queen palm frawns shed or drop quite a bit of debris from themselves normally?
Thanks in advance for your response.
Diane
ANSWER: Hi Diane, I am a little puzzled by what you call debris, is it from the fronds or from the inflorescence (flower)? let me know what the debris looks like. Nick

QUESTION: Nick:
The debris I'm talking about is any part of the fronds i.e. a piece of an individual leaf, but not the flower or seed pods or anything like that. Just from the fronds themselves. Remember, I'm talking about a fully grown green new growth type of frond on the top area of a Queen palm. The reason I'm asking this question is to find out if these fronds will drop a lot of stuff from the frond itself into my pool that they extend over or if the Queen palm fronds, which are pretty green, are usually fairly clean and are not "dirty".
Thanks for your response.

AnswerThere will not be any debris from the fronds themselves;and there won't be any other debris as long as you keep the pods cut off as soon as they form. If a frond needs to be cut off, because it is yellow or brown then make certain you cut the boot it is attached to off also, for it will eventually fall off on its own (into your pool), being very careful not to cut into the trunk of the Palm itself, do these two things and you will be debris free...Nick
