QuestionI live in Atlanta GA and have a very small front garden (6ft. x 5ft.) at my townhouse. I need plants and flowers that are low, low maintenance and colorful. My husband and I travel for months at a time and we do not have anyone to look after our garden. Will Croton's survive a few months without care? If not, what can we plant. Our townhouse is in the front of the property, so we have to keep up "curb appeal". Help!
AnswerHi Jacqueline, Crotons are a good choice, but make certain they are in an area where they are out of the afternoon Sun, Morning Sun until around 1pm is fine; mulch the area where they are planted to help keep the roots cooler and hold in moisture, so they don't dry out to quickly. Contact your local Cooperative Extension Service Agent, he will give you a list of easy care plantings for your area and climate zone. Nick
