QuestionGot an indoor paradise palm for 2 years, it is about 2 metre's high and has been growing really well and thriving. In the last week, two of the leaves at the bottom end of the plant on one stem have started turning brown and they have got spots on them. The soil smells like meldew and appears to have some white residue on the top. What is the problem and how can it be remedied?
AnswerHi Jacqui, the soil needs to be changed out, there is probably salt build up in it from years of fertilizing; get a new, larger container, line the bottom with some gravel (for drainage) and add new soil. Contained plants need this periodically, for the soil does become compromised after awhile, and will effect the health of the plant. Nick
