Hi Nick, I am looking at bidding on a 4-5m Queen Palm on Trademe that has been blown over and is on a lean due to weather.  I've never transplanted such a plant before and am wondering if this is something that we can do ourselves or if we need to get experts in and also is it likely that the palm will survive due to its size?  Could you help with some advise, would be most appreciated.  Thanks, Naomi.

Hi Naomi, I would definitely get an expert to transplant a Palm of that magnitude, its too large and too heavy to do by hand; it will require a machine to lift it out of the ground, and then the root system will need to be wrapped until it is ready for its new location. This can cost hundreds of dollars, so you need to weigh the value of a Queen Palm, which is one of the cheapest Palms there are. Nick
