QuestionTwo of my 15' queen palms seem to be sinking into the ground, the outer bark is spreading out at ground level. I do not believe I am over watering them, and the bark does not feel soggy. I am in Southern California and the palms are planted on a turf covered hill with good drainage.
AnswerHi Richard, they aren't sinking, this condition is called "flare" and it occurs naturally in many Palms as they mature; its a phenomenon, and nothing to really be concerned about, except for the aesthetically unpleasing look about it. Don't attempt to correct it in any means, just leave it be, it will be fine. Nick
