Washingtonia Robusta

Question
I have these palms and one of them actually has seed pods this year!  A couple have opened and are flowery kind of yellow looking things.  I can't find any information on when they develop seed pods or how I harvest, do you have any information?  Some sistes show seeds?  Do I plant the flowers?  Any information would be appreciated!  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Torey,  What you are seeing is the "Inflorescence" which will eventually develop into a seed pod; the pod will subsequently shed the seeds and some of them may germinate in the soil at the base of the Palm. Once they are shed, they can be germinated by you; this requires taking the seeds and putting them in a container with soil or vermiculite that is kept damp (not wet..) and covered with a baggy to keep the soil from drying out too fast; once the seeds sprout, then you can move them into a bigger container and eventually into the ground. First things first though, it will be months for the seeds to form from the newly opened pod. Nick
