Musa Basjoo is Deformed

Question
Early last year, I was watering roses with Bayer Systemic All in One for Roses and flowers.  I has some left over, so I watered the Bananas with it.  They have been deformed ever since.  The leaves do not uncurl, they are very small and stunted.  This year they have came back and are the same, my husband says what I used has genetically altered them. I cut mine all the way back so all of mine are coming up from root. I wondered if it is maybe just still in the soil.  Any way to get my bananas back to normal or should I just start over with new ones?

Answer
Hi Alane, I would not have put that on a Banana or any edible for that matter, it is , after all, a "systemic" and that is taken up into the tissue of the plant, including the fruit it bears; this is not something you want to eat, and it does state this in the cautions on the label, "not for use on plants grown for food", that said, I have never used it on mine, so I am not sure if it has caused the deformation,  the root system of a Banana is like a large Potato, it is called a Corm and having absorbed this systemic, anything is possible. I would start over , especially if you plan on eating the Bananas; they do not need any insecticidal protection, for nothing really bothers them, and fertilization is with a tropical plant granular, the type used for Palms and Ornamentals.
