Questionpurchased this plant at Lowe's do not know if it is evergreen or shrub. Live in Rio Grande valley and planted
it outside. It is growing well but seems to be fanning out
more like an umbrella. I bought 5 to use as a screen or
hedge.Do I just wait or is something necessary to get them
upward and onward.
AnswerHi Edna, There are two types of Allamanda, there is the bush variety, but the most common is the vining variety; I am inclined, by what you say, to think you have a vining Allamanda, and it is indeed looking for something to crawl up, like a fence or trellis. Check with Lowes to see if you have the Bush or Vining type. Nick
