QuestionI'm in KY and bought a hibiscus that was doing well. While putting Miracle Grow on my plants and flowers, I put 15-30-15 mixed with the proper water on the hibiscus also. It no longer blooms. In doing a search on the Internet, someone said that 15-30-15 inhibits blooming because of high (phosphorus?). So my question is, is there a way to get it blooming again?
AnswerHi Kim, Hibiscus can be very finicky, and they are the type of plant that will set blossoms when they are ready; there really isn't much you can do to encourage them except keep them properly irrigated and fertilized with a well balanced tropical fertilizer every 3 months or so, or even a shot of "Miracle Grow Blossom booster" may help stimulate it. Be on the watch for aphids and mealy bugs, for they love to suck the juices of buds, causing them to fall off before opening. Nick
