QuestionI live in the Arizona desert and planted a dwarf palm in March.
This type of palm is very common;y planted here in Phoenix.
However, the leaves have become more yellow over time.
I have given it palm fertilizer sticks; I water it daily and have given it vitamin B for its root system.
It continues to turn yellow.
Am I watering it too much do you think? It gets 30 minutes of bubble system each day.
AnswerHi Vincent, even though you are in a dry, arid climate zone, Pygmy Dates (which I assume is what you have...) do not need that much irrigation; back off the watering and I think your Palm will stop yellowing on you. Water it once a week, that will be fine, and fertilizer spikes don't work (contrary to what they tell you..), for they only cover limited areas of the root system; use a granular instead, and spread it evenly over the entire root system, from the drip line in.
