Burnt Schefflera

Question
I left my two year old schefflera in my car on a sunny day and the top branches and leaves were all burnt to crisp!  The bottom branches(actually the newest growth) seem fine.  Luckily, it had just been watered.  Will it survive?  I basically pruned all the dead off and watered it again hoping the still alive will survive.  This is about the time I would be moving it out into the sun on nice days.  What should I do?  I love this plant; I've had it since it was just one leaf, a clipping from a friends plant.

Answer
Hi Barbara, from what you describe I feel it will be just fine; Scheffs are pretty tough plants and it would take a lot more to actually kill it. Cut off the dead/burnt leaves and move it into an area where it will initially get dappled shade, until it starts to show new growth, then you can move it anywhere, they can take full sun or shade, as long as they are irrigated properly, but no wet feet, just don't let it completely dry out either. Nick
