banna plant

Question
QUESTION: to nick
every time my banana plant makes a new leaf. One of the old
ones always burn.I took it out from the window and put it
near the heater and it got very tall but the leaf keep burning no matter where i put it or do with it do you know what do ?

ANSWER: Hi Anthony, The growth pattern of a Banana is for that to happen, it grows a new leaf and one of the older, lower ones usually begins to curl up and brown out; this is normal, just make certain you give it adequate water and fertilizer, and it will continue to grow for you, but it will not give you fruit while planted in a container, for the roots require much more space then any container can provide for it to have the optimum growth needed. QUESTION: thanks nick
do you know how long it takes to get the bananas from the plant and the plant is potted in a big pot because of the roots being so big and the plant only has like 6 leaves on it but the leaves keep burning. So do u know how long it takes to get the bananas?

Answer
..anywhere from a year to 2 or 3 depending on setbacks such as frost, stress etc., but ideally, in the ground, in a tropical environment, usually 9-12 months. In a pot, it is very difficult, I tried and failed miserably to grow a "Dwarf" variety in a container and it just stressed continually because of the lack of root space (even in the largest of containers, there isn't enough..), so I gave up and put the same plant in the ground and got a bunch to form within a year.
