QuestionI am in mid Florida and have had some frost damage to the palm trees on my lawn.
After several days of heavy frost, the fronds on the trees turned brown and several weeks later the stems of the upper leaves seem to be turning green again. I have pruned the lower ones that are still brown and are starting to rot and I question whether I should prune everything back to the main stock.
AnswerHi Doug, no, as long as there is some green left in even the frost burned fronds, they are still functioning (photosynthesizing) and will play a vital role in the palms recovery; wait until they are completely brown, then remove them by cutting them about 3 inches from the main trunk. Nick
