QuestionI live in the Palm Springs area of Ca. and recently transplanted a 6ft queen palm. 2 weeks later the fronds are now turning brown and brittle. How will I know if I've lost it. I followed your transplanting directions. Your advice is appreciated.
AnswerHi Susan, when you transplanted it, you needed to irrigate it well for several weeks, and hopefully you lifted the entire root ball as undisturbed as possible; if you did this, just keep it watered and watch the center spear, it should still be green, and that will be where you new growth will emerge, the brown existing ones should not be removed as long as they have any green left at all, if they are totally brown, then by all means cut them off for they are no longer functioning. Check you level of planting also, it should be in the ground at the exact dept it was originally. Nick
