QuestionWe live in Central Florida. How soon after our recent freeze can we cut back our bouganvilla and other plants affected by the cold?
Thanks in advance.
AnswerHi Pat, the general rule of thumb is to be patient and delay any pruning until at least a week, this allows the plant to give you a better idea of what is still viable and what isn't; Bougs got hit hard by that cold spell and will pretty much need to be cut back to bare wood, but give it a little more time and the picture will be a lot clearer for a better pruning. Many plants will drop their leaves for you to rake up, then you will notice a slow regrowth, this is where you can start thinking about where to cut back, the dead branches and sections will stand out at this point.
