QuestionWe had a Parlour Palm in our airconditioned office for about 6 months when it seemed to dry up and die. It has a white dusty film on the underside of all the leaves that is not mealy bug. I brought it home to try and save it, i cut off all the leaves, repotted it into a larger pot and fed it. I then began watering it with only rain water and on the odd occasion added iquid feed. I have also raised the pot out of it's dish by putting pebbles in it to avoid root rot. Three new leaves appeared but they are off colour, pale and dry looking again, and the white film has appeared again. Is this plant beyond saving please.
AnswerHi Chris, it sounds like you have a solid hand on your horticulture , good for you, but from what you are telling me, it sounds like the root damage may already have occurred; the pale fronds are a sure sign of it. I would just sit back at this point and keep an eye on it, hopefully it may turn the corner for you,but everything you have done is right on track and there really isn't anything more you can do. Nick
