do I need to dig up my black magic elephant ears for the winter? they appear to have roots and not bulbs.sometimes the temp drops below freezing.

Hi Linda, no, mulch them over to insulate them and they should be fine; as long as the ground doesn't freeze they should do fine next spring. A freeze may kill them back to the surface, but as long as the rhizome is kept viable, they will sprout again for you. Nick
