QuestionI live in St. George, Utah. I have a potted aloe vera plant under a shaded patio. Wondering what cold temperature it can tolerate? Any suggestions for protecting it outside if needed? It's too large to bring inside.
Thank you.

AnswerHi Sally, the Aloe has a liquid type center and will freeze when temps drop below 32 degrees, killing the plant; all I can suggest is taking some of the babies of it and pot them up and bring them in for next year. The mother (as you say is too big to move) will have to be insulated with a heavy blanket to attempt to save it, but with your cruel winters up there, the odds are not very good. Nick
