Multi-trunk pygmy date palm

Question
We recently transplanted a 3 trunk Pygmy Date Palm and one of the trunks evidently did not survive as all of its fronds have died.  The other 2 trunks still have healthy looking fronds and appear to be doing okay in the new location.  Can I cut or somehow remove the dead trunk without harming the surviving ones?

Thanks very much.

Answer
Hi John, yes, this is a common occurance with many triad Pygmy Dates, you can remove the afflicted one without hurting the remaining ones, just make sure that you cut the trunk at the soil level and not below, it will callous over and the other two will do fine if given the care that all palms should be given.
