QuestionTwo years ago I put in 4 palms. One of them has developed splits in the trunk from ground up to three or four feet. Fronds seem to be healthy but I can stick my finger 2 or 3 inches into some of these splits. Any ideas?
AnswerHi Charles, a common affliction, especially with Queen Palms; experts differ as to the cause, but suffice to say that it is a phenononom that isn't really a serious problem. Watch for insect activity in the splits, and spray accordingly, but other then that, don't be concerned, the palm will not show any ill effects from it. Nick
