QuestionBought a massangeana cane plant at Home Depot, which appeared to have outgrown it's pot. Does this plant need to be transplanted to a slightly larger pot or does it matter how big the next pot is? Seems like the plant needs to have a pot with a small neck to be able to support it's upright position. Otherwise, it leans over in a pot that has too large an opening. Do you have any other transplanting tips?
AnswerHi Connie, these plants are very hardy, but they tend to be top heavy, because their root systems are small in comparison to their crown growth; my advice, find a container that is deeper then wide so that it can support the lean factor, and place it in a corner position where it can be manipulated to lean toward the wall for support. The only other method would be tying it off from the center in two or more directions. Nick
