QuestionHi,
I have bought the fan palm and it seemed to have rooted well. I have planted it with stones in the bottom of the plant pot for drainage. Now the lower leaves are starting to turn yellow then brown. The top leave are all fine so I don't know exactly whats going on???? I think I may have been over watering it.... Can anyone help????
AnswerHi Rob, that is really somewhat normal, the lower fronds provide nutrients to the upper fronds as they unfurl and consequently turn color (yellow/brown) through this process; that said however, too much moisture on the roots will undeniably cause problems, so make sure that any excess water is off the root ball, and one last point is a new Fan Palm fresh from the nursery is going to go through an adjustment to its new surroundings and try to avoid the hot afternoon sun until it becomes acclimated...good luck..Nick
