Hi George, no, they will plump out gradually over a span of 2-3 months; the key is to cut them off the plant before they ripen; Bananas should not be allowed to ripen on the plant, they should be closely watched, and when they have swelled to a point where they are pretty round, then cut them off green, hang them "inverted" in a cool, dark area and they will ripen within a week...Nick
