QuestionI purchased a mass cane yesterday, repotted it and today the leaves are darker in color and starting to droop. The tag on the plant stated high light - so I have it on the patio and it gets direct light in the afternoon to evening hourse. I need to know more about the temperature tolerance, I'm in TX and it's about 105 degrees outside - is the plant heat sensitive?
AnswerHi Sandy, I have two outside of my patio, and they get exposed to direct light/sun all day; here in Florida we get up in the high 90's and albeit they initially staggered a little, they eventually adjusted and are now thriving with very little care. The key to any new plant, tropical or not, is to harden it to its new enviorment, be it hot or cold, so don't be too concerned about the drooping leaves, just be careful not to over water it. Fertilize it with a soluble fertilizer like Miracle Grow or Peters once a month and you should be fine. Nick
