QuestionSticky gooey film on some leaves? Is it some type of infestation? Worth spraying or should I get rid of>
AnswerHi Jayne, its the residue of tiny insects (probably mites) feeding on your Palm (probably a Majesty); wipe the undersides of the fronds with common household alcohol (Isopropyl), and this will kill the mites, then take the palm outside and wash the fronds down removing the residue and dead mites. When small insects such as mites, aphids and scale feed, they secrete this substance (sticky, gooey residue) from their rear, which will eventually attract ants, if you don't eradicate the pests soon.
