QuestionI live in PCB, NFL and planted two red banana palms about three months ago in my yard. One plant is fairing well and the other has an elusive pest which is eating holes in the newly formed leaves. This one has only grown half as much as the other. Can you give me an idea to which pest this may be and both a chemical and biological, if one exists, solution?
AnswerHi Lynn, it is either slugs or a bee called the leaf cutter; if the holes are perfectly symetrical, then its the bee,, if they are just haphazardly chewed its slugs. If the culprit is slugs, then put some slug bait around the bananas, this will take care of them at night, when they do their damage...Nick
