Giant White Bird of Paradise

Question
QUESTION: Hello,
I have a few Giant Bird of Paradise's that I planted a couple months ago. One was split into two plants, and now neither of them have had any new growth. The old growth is now browning (on all three). I moved the two split ones back next to eachother. Will this help? How can I help the plants thrive? Thank you.

ANSWER: Hi Emily, when they were split, was there roots on the individual plants? and how were they split, if they were cut just below the surface and have no root system, then they will not take. let me know more info on what transpired. Nick

QUESTION: Hi Nick,
Each plant had roots. They came from a pot and I 'split' them when I took them out of the pot.
They are alive and healthy, just no new growth..
Thank you.

Answer
Hi again, its sounds like when you split them out of the pot, you damaged the roots (which had undoubtedly mingled), I would place them in a dappled shady area, and only water (at this point) when they are dry, too much water on a stressed plant will exacerbate the situation. Cut the brown leaves off and then all you can do is watch and wait and hope. Nick
