QuestionI have a ponytail palm tree in the backyard, height approx. 8'. Doesn't get a lot of water, never had a problem. All I ever do is pull off the bottom branches when they look dried and brown. All of a sudden, all the leaves at the top (crown) turned brown from the bottom up and died. A few days after that happened, a bunch of little green "suckers" or offshoots appeared all over the trunk. Will the main leaves grow back? What do I do?
AnswerHi Jacui, something shocked it, albeit doesn't need a lot of water, it does need occasional irrigation; if it goes without water for too long a period it will show stress. I am sure it will regenerate new growth from the crown, it just will require time to do this; give it a good water and then back off and leave it to mother nature. The growth along the main trunk tells me its still viable and will be fine. Nick
