Red banana tree is coming up this season with holes in the leaves

We purchased a red banana tree last year and it grew so well, so fast. But now that it is starting to come up again, all the leaves look like some sort of bug is eating them since they are full of holes and damaged. I do not see anything on the leaves but something is causing this. Any suggestions as to what to do to try to save this plant?

Hi Jody, looks like the slugs have found your banana, put some "slug bait" around the base of your plant; they feed at night and live/hide in the soil during the day. The moist conditions around a banana are perfect habitat for them; I have 5 different types of bananas (growing) and occasionally I too have seen this. Nick
