Can you prune (cut back) a fictus elastica rubber tree house plant?

Hi Louise, sure, they are very resilient, use a very sharp knife or pruning shears and be careful because they bleed sap when cut and it is real sticky! put some hormone powder or growth hormone (local home depot will have it) on the wounds to help them callous over. The area you cut will send out several new shoots from the cut area, so as you prune, picture what it will look like.
