I purchased 3 majesty palms at work and they are so pretty, what i want to know is I'm hearing that they don't do well inside, where and what kind of care do they need? Can they be planted outside and do they need shade or sun or what?I live in Moss Landing California. And, second I have a basket that I've had for about 4 yrs and it's filled with Ivy and I have it by a window with the ivy growing tacked up on the walls but its like root bound and I'm not sure how to change or do i need to put it in something bigger.I can add soil cause the roots are covered by some brown moss I've just kind been going with it ya know.Any Ideas Thank you Tammy

Answer
Hi Tammy, ok, Majestys do just fine inside as long as you know how to care for them; they like low light and high humidity, so mist the fronds frequently, and keep the soil evenly moist (not wet). I would move them out of their containers however, for they usually are sold in nursery containers that are not meant to be their continual home; put them in a larger container with drainage medium lining the bottom 2 inches, and then filled up to within 2 inches of the top with a good potting soil. They can be planed outside, but it isn't necessary, however, they will do better in the ground then in a container. The ivy can be transplanted easily, just pop it out of its rootbound container and put it in a larger one with drainage medium on the bottom also, misting the leaves will help the ivy also. You need any more info Tammy, just let me know.:)Nick
