sago palm losing fronds

Question
QUESTION: I have two sago palms that are about 5 feet tall.  They were transplanted last summer and were doing fine.  During the winter they started to lose their fronds.  Now they only have a few fronds each.  What can I do?  Will they grow back?  Please help!

ANSWER: Hi Dawn, when you say they are losing their fronds, are they turning yellow and then eventually falling off? or are they invested with a white scale that is causing them to shed, follow up with some more details so i can help out...Nick:)

QUESTION: For the first few months they were still green and falling off.  The wind seemed to be blowing them off.  Just recently, they have started turning yellow.

Answer
Hi Dawn, this is really strange, sago fronds will snap off if given a good tug, but I have to admit, I have never heard of them falling off green without this force. I am thinking that when thy were transplanted, they may have been planted too deep, but without seeing them I can't even speculate; In any event, sagos are survivors, and new growth will appear from the top of the crown. Something stressed them since they were transplanted and they should recover, if they were not planted too deep..Nick
