QUESTION: The first problem is there are little holes, in a nice little row. The second thing is the top of leaf, normally a nice clear half oval shape, will be eaten away with the half oval into the top part of the leaf. I can tell this is not wind damage.
AnswerHi Chris, what you are describing is the tell tale results of a leaf cutter bee, which takes snips of leaves for its nest, it sounds like it, especially if it looks like it was cut out with cookie cutter, if so they do limited damage and move on; it could however, be slug damage also, but they usually tatter the leaf. Spread some granular insecticide into the soil around the banana, just in case it is slugs, or even use slug bait, either way, bananas are very resilient and won't die from this...regards Nick
