QuestionHello,
I planted a number of hibiscus bushes last spring. However, I am afraid with the unusually cold winter here this year they all froze. Is there a heartier, more freeze resistant type of hibiscus bush I could plant? If so any idea where they can be purchased? Home Depot and the like will porbably not have them.
Thank you,
Wayne Urias
AnswerHi Wayne, unfortunately all the tropical hibiscus varieties are just that, cold sensitive; There is a hardy Hibiscus, called Hibiscus Moscheutos, but it only resembles the tropical version when in bloom, it is not everbearing, for it goes dormant in winter. There are the close relatives you may consider, Rose of Sharon and Marrow also. regards Nick
