QuestionMy Lakeview Jasmine tree has small, red, fruit like berries. Are these seeds that can be sown and planted. And, if so, how do I accomplish that. If not, how do I propagate the plant from cuttings.
AnswerHi Paul, the sure fire way to propagate any of the Jasmine family is by semi hardwood cuttings; take about a 4 inch cutting with two leaves still attached, (cut sharply with a knife) dip it in a rooting hormone, and insert it into a covered propagation/seed tray filled with about 3 inches of perlite. Once a day mist the leaves and stem but try to keep the cuttings end dry, so it doesn't rot. place the tray in bright light, but not direct sunlight; the secret is to keep the interior of the tray humid and moist but allowing occasional air to circulate in (when you open it to mist the specimen). You should see roots in about 3-5 weeks. Have fun! Nick
