Zebra plant care

Question
I just purchased a zebra plant to keep indoors. The flowers have brown edges and look like they need trimming. Since this is a new plant to me I'm not sure of the care.  I mainly need to know how to cut the flowers off. Do you trim them at the bottom of the flower or down the stem?  Will there be more soon?  I appreciate you helping me get off to a good start in growing these. Since I live in Indiana, I am going to keep the potted zebras indoor during the winter and move the pots outside in the summer.  Is that o.k?  Again, thanks so much for your help.

Answer
Hi Anita, ok, first of all keep it out of direct sun, they don't do well in it, second, they like a humid environment, so place the container on a tray of wet pebbles, keep the potting mix moist until after the flowering is complete, after flowering, cut back to 3 or 4 healthy leaves and then let the potting mix dry out between waterings, at this point, the plant is in a rest period, and will slowly begin regenerating, after the rest period, when it begins to grow quicker, resume the first step of keeping the soil moist. The flowers will pretty much shed themselves, but for aesthetics it won't hurt to cut away the dead heads without cutting into the stem of the plant itself. You can move it outdoors, but again, dappled shade is best and remember another thing, it likes 65 degrees or better when its growing actively, but during its rest period, cooler temps are better suited for it...regards Nick:)
