Question I have had my pony tale palm for 2 years now. It doesn't look like the ones I see on the internet. On mine the leaves are extremely curly. I have never really had a problem with it until 3-4 months ago. I started noticing the tips of my plants leaves turning brown, so I research the plant and I thought that maybe I had watered it to much. I cut back on watering my plant but my leaves are still turning brown. But the weird thing is I have what I think is a lot of new growth coming from the top. I don't know if this is normal for pony tale palms or if something is wrong with my plant. I have never used any type of fertilizer to feed it, only water. PLease help me figure out what is wrong with my plant.
AnswerHi Crystal, your ponytail doesn't need a lot of water, and when you cut back, the new growth is testimony to that; it is sending out new growth and is happy now, the older leaves that have browned will eventually fall off, its the new growth at the top that you want to watch and make sure that they stay green. that big bulbular bottom is actually a storage for water, so don't kill it with kindness by overwatering.....regards Nick:)
