Cold Shock Musa Dwarf Cavendish

Question
Hi,

I have a Musa Dwarf Cavendish that was exposed to about 10 degree F weather for 15 minutes, and then was in a heated car for about an hour and half when the weather outside was about 0 degrees. Its leaves turned brown and soft and wilty, and now, after about a week, they are brittle and curled. There is a new leaf growing from the center but it is frost bitten and brittle where the cold touched it too, but more green is coming.

I am keeping it watered, should I trim off the dead leaves? Is there any hope for it?

Answer
Hi Corrin, ok, the corm (root system) should regenerate new growth as long as it wasn't frozen; the pseudostem (trunk) should still be green, if it is mushy then thats an indication that the corm did get frozen. Its a wait and see situation now Corrin, be patient and back off on the watering, because right now the roots are trying to recuperate and too much water will cause root rot...good luck Nick:)
