QuestionHi Friend,
I have an indoor banana plant(tree). The new leaves are beautiful but after awhile they start to brown up around the edges. The plant sits in front of a window. Could the sun be too much. I also see some white powdery spots on the leaves.
I live in Michigan and cannot take the plant outside until spring. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The plant is about 6-7'tall.

AnswerHi Sheree, Bananas need humid conditions to flourish, they will brown out on the edges if there is no humidity; direct sun is no problem at all. The white powdery spots are called (believe it or not) Powdery mildew, its a fungus that needs to be sprayed with a copper fungicide, before it gets out of hand. Spray you plant daily with water to imitate humidity, this will help and keep the soil damp, but not wet. regards Nick
