the money tree

Question
i have a money tree and she's beautiful. I've had her 1 year. about 5 months ago i transplanted her into a bigger pot with holes for drainage. she's real full.  my problems is that on some of the leaves they are brown and crinkly on the ends of the leaves. there are a couple of leaves that have turned yellow. there is new growth on the bottom of the bulbs(roots). I need to prune her but don't know how. she's so full till some leaves don't get even light. i want to help her and not hurt her. can you help guide me please. can i prune leaves and start a new plant with them?

Answer
Hi Doris, I wouldn't be too concerned about the browing ends of the leaves, this is a common occurance when either the temperature changes or humidity level; if it gets worse however, it would be indicitive of root problems (too wet usually). Pruning should be done prudently, by cutting out some of the extending branches and those that are leafless; pruning is an art, and difficult to teach via email, if you can go to your local Cooperative Extension Service (county office), they will be able to give you one on one advice in this area. regards Nick
